La Phrygia-Lisa — Open Edition Poster

La Phrygia-Lisa is the most playful and conceptually daring piece in the collection. It fuses Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa — the most recognised painting in human history — with the Phryge, the small Phrygian-cap-shaped mascot of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Using palette knife technique and acrylic collage, DreamEyes Studio built the composition in thick, textured layers that give the surface a sculptural quality you can see from across the room. The palette knife work creates ridges and valleys of paint that catch shadows and light, making the piece intensely physical. The concept is a meditation on French identity: the Phrygian cap connects the revolution, the Republic, Marianne, and now the Olympics in a single visual thread. By placing that symbol onto the world's most famous portrait, the work asks what it means to be French in the 21st century — with irreverence, colour, and a wink. Created in the months surrounding the 2024 Paris Games, this is contemporary art in the truest sense: art about right now.
